    Input Devices
    Choosing an Input Method

With REACH there is a varity of input methods to choose from.

    - TOUCH SCREEN

The Touch option is ALWAYS present, even when other input methods are established.

    - VOICE ACTIVATION
Voice is accepted through the REACH on-board microphones, or can be enhanced through the following external microphone options.

The Assistive Bluetooth Micophone provides two great advantages for your speech controlled REACH ECU. One, the device allows you to control your REACH ECU from a distance and two, allows you to easily turn your microphone on and off with any assistive switch. Ideal for using speech recognition in noisy environments, when a tv or stereo are on, or when people are having a conversation.

The pillow switch is a very popular choice of assistive switch to use with this device. We even have a pillow switch with a latching action, that way the user can press the switch once to turn on the mic and press it again to turn it off. No need to hold the switch in the down or on position.

The Assistive Bluetooth Microphone contains the following parts: Multifunction Button, Microphone, Charger, Charging Port, Earbud Port, Assistive Switch Port, Indicator Light, Earbud, and Snap Strap. Read user guide carefully before using the Assistive Bluetooth Microphone.

The Momentary Microphone Switch Adapter allows you to easily turn your microphone on and off with any assistive switch. Ideal for using speech recognition in noisy environments, when a tv or stereo are on, or when people are having a conversation.

    - SWITCH SCANNING
When using the Switch Scanning input method, REACH can be controlled using a variety of switches. REACH will simply scan through the options available and when the desired command is highlighted, you click the switch.

Assistive switches come in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on the action used to activate them (such as sip-puff, pushing, pulling, pressing, blinking or squeezing). For push or press switches, the amount of force required to operate them varies or in some cases can be adjusted. Some switches may only require a touch (not even a press), some are soft and designed to be pressed with the side of one’s head. A switch can be operated by almost any body part that is able to produce consistent and voluntary movement.

Note: Switches that have a mono plug instead of a USB plug will need a Switch Adapter to interface with REACH.

    - HEAD MOVEMENTS
REACH can be controlled by the movement of ones head.
Break Boundaries offers two devices that can accomplish this.
